John Schroder joined Stockland in October 2006 as Group Executive and CEO Commercial Property. Mr Schroder is responsible for a portfolio of 41 Shopping Centres throughout Australia, valued at more than AU$6.4 billion and a combined Gross Lettable Area (GLA) of 1,005,835 square metres. As CEO Commercial Property at Stockland, John is also responsible for a Logistics and Business Parks portfolio valued at $1.8 billion and comprising 21 properties, and an Office portfolio of 10 assets with a combined value in excess of $1.0 billion. John currently oversees a Retail development and redevelopment pipeline with $1.2 billion worth of active projects in hand, together with an Industrial and Logistics pipeline of circa $350m.

 

Prior to joining Stockland, John was Chief Operating Officer of Westfield in the United States, based in Los Angeles, a position he held from 2000 to 2006. During his tenure, John was part of the team that expanded Westfield’s US operations to 66 retail centres and six major airport terminals across 12 states, with John overseeing the management of 1,500 employees. A considerable retail development pipeline was planned with several large signature projects completed and under construction. John joined Westfield in 1994, and held numerous senior management roles, including Australian Director of Shopping Centre Management, prior to relocating to Los Angeles to take up the to the COO position.

 

Commencing his career at Lend Lease in 1986, in the Retail Development and Investment Business, John has 29 years of experience in the shopping centre and commercial property industry. He has worked in, or been responsible for, all the disciplines across the property asset classes. John has held Senior Executive positions both in Australia and internationally, and is on the Board of Directors of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia.
