Lieutenant General David Morrison joined the Army in 1979. As an infantryman he has commanded the Second Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR), and the 3rd Brigade, both key war fighting arms of Army. He has spearheaded far reaching cultural change within Army, which has reverberated through the Department of Defence. He is one of the federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner's inaugural 'Champions of Change' and a White Ribbon Ambassador.

Lieutenant General Morrison is an Officer in the Order of Australia and he has been awarded The Legion of Merit, Degree of Commander, by the United States of America.
